“The purpose is to inform, inspire and have a little fun along the way.”
Article Forget New Year’s Resolutions – What’s Your Mission? Without a clear-cut sense of purpose you’ll wimp out on making changes. (To access my other articles, click here.)
Book Recommendations – My learning goal is to get through at least 40 non-fiction books (including audio books) a year. This is where I find the ideas to help my clients grow their business. Below are the ones I read this past month.
Renegades Born in the USA – A couple of self-proclaimed misfits you may know (Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen) have developed a unique friendship. They share a number of intimate conversations about growing up, family, community, race, music and what it means to be an American.
Invention – A Life If you think the name Dyson just means vacuum cleaners, you’d be woefully underestimating the prolific inventive genius of James Dyson. His namesake firm is responsible for the invention/design/manufacturing and sales of 25 million products a year. He founded his own Dyson Institute for the development of its students to create future breakthrough technologies. He’s also a major philanthropist, donating millions through his foundation to support design and engineering education.
Marketing Mess to Brand Success – 30 Challenges to Transform Your Organization’s Brand (and Your Own) Scott Jeffrey Miller spent 25 years at Franklin Covey. He shares the messes he made over the years so that you can avoid making them yourself.
Twelve and a Half – Leveraging the Emotional Ingredients Necessary for Business Success “The growth potential of most businesses is limited by the emotional intelligence of their leaders,” says serial entrepreneur wizard Gary Vaynerchuk. This has all of Gary Vee’s ideas on how to improve your EI.
The Fireside Chats of Franklin Delano Roosevelt – Here is FDR giving straight talk to the country about both the good and the bad during the The Great Depression. It’s reassuring to know that America has made it through difficult times that lasted longer than anyone wanted. (Like now, for instance.)
Think and Grow Rich – I skim through this personal achievement classic every December before I set my goals for the coming year. It reminds me about fundamental principles for success, even if one needs to take the words from author Napoleon Hill (who had many professional and personal failings) with a grain of salt.
Healing Thoughts – If you would be so kind, please take a moment to send healing energy as I do daily to individuals you know who have serious health challenges or are dealing with difficult circumstances. Every positive thought helps, thanks.
